Euthanasia Policy
This is a very emotive subject for all concerned and not one as a rescue we take lightly especially as we tend to take in a number of elderly dogs and dogs with behavioural issues, but first and foremost is the consideration of the quality of life for the dog concerned. Therefore we would only consider euthanasia under the following circumstances:-
ILLNESS - All dogs under our rescue banner receive a very high level of veterinary treatment and even as a small rescue we feel we go above and beyond using access to specialist medical advice and procedures. However, if at any stage the dog is suffering, not responding to treatment and deteriorating we may determine with our veterinary team to take the kindest option of euthanasia.
BEHAVIOURAL - We work with a team of qualified expert trainers and a clinical behaviourist to try to rehabilitate dogs with most behavioural issues. However if, under their guidance, we feel the dog is a grave danger to themself or a human being we would seek to euthanise.
Any euthanasia is carried out by a qualified veterinary surgeon assisted by a veterinary nurse.
